Hires Big H

January 18th 2013
Hires Big H
Hires is a fine establishment.  It is the iconic burger joint of Utah.  It is a place rich with history. Opening in 1959, Hires Big H has been plating hamburgers and fashioning memories for over 50 years.  1st Service,  4 Hires is a nice place to be.  The workers are all very friendly.  It is a seat yourself place but like any diner you have a waiter.  There is also the option to drive-in if you don't want to leave your car.  2nd Bang for your Buck 4. The food at Hires is very reasonably priced for the quality food that you get.  You can get a burger, fries and a drink for like 8 bucks.  That is the same price you would pay at like Mcdonalds or Wendy's for a combo but this of course is much better!  They are a family establishment.  They don't charge an arm and a leg because they want families to be able to come and enjoy their food often.  3rd Atmosphere.  5 The atmosphere at Hires warms my soul! it is a classic burger joint.  It's very laid back but not in a trashy way.  It stays "classy casual."  One of the Hires' titles is the "Gathering Place"  this is a very appropriate title.  It feels like the kind of place the high school gang would go to after their football team has a big win on homecoming night.  It's primed to be a family night staple.  It's a place where strangers can get to know one another and old friends can reunite and reminisce about the good times.  When you're at Hires you  have to just soak it all in.  Because "life moves pretty fast,  if you don't stop and look around once in a while...you could miss it."  4th Quality of the food 4.5  Hires has great food!  I had the Pastrami Big H burger.  The burgers are seasoned well and are perfectly juicy without feeling really greasy! The Pastrami brought a little bit of zip to table.  I ordered onion rings.  They're homemade rings are great!  Then of course the fry sauce.  Now, there are many things in our lives that we often take for granted.  The freedom of our country or the love and trust of our family and friends.  At Hires I discovered Fry sauce is one of those things that I have taken for granted, having lived in the Midwest for the past two years, a region of the country which unfortunately has not yet had their eyes opened to the simple greatness of Fry Sauce. But at Hires.....I came home.  Then of course, the Hires specialty, a frosty mug of root beer.  Wonderful!  It was a great experience in Salt Lake City At Hires Big H Drive In.  They earned a 17.5  Not surprising for a place that has been declaring "This Is Food" to the Salt Lake Valley for over 50 years!
